Dinger’s Day in TBD

May 21, 2020 // Art, Live

Hi friends! Last week we took a stroll around the neighborhood with our very own local TBD celebrity and official River Cats mascot, Dinger! Dinger has been living in The Bridge District since 2000 and has loved watching our community develop throughout the years. He loves it here so much that he wanted to reflect on his twenty years of living here by sharing some of his favorite parts of the neighborhood with you!

You may not know it, but Dinger is quite the art enthusiast so it’s a good thing our neighborhood is filled with public art. In fact, during the off season, Dinger can be found strolling along the riverwalk and staring at Federico Diaz’s sculpture, Subtile. Dinger loves how the 34,000 stainless steel disks shine and shimmer on warm summer days. #tbdart

On our way to The Foundry mural, we ran into a young local fan and took a break to admire the striking black and white art piece by Jun Kaneko. We then headed over to the Mill Street Pier to practice some yoga near the WEST piece by Janet Zweig. When we got to The Foundry, Dinger was ecstatic to see the new Lily Therens mural and was honored that he had been included in the masterpiece. How lucky are we to be surrounded by so much incredible art! 🙌🏽

Although Dinger had been to The Foundry numerous times, he had not yet gotten the chance to look at the mural because he was always immersed in a friendly game of bocce ball. When asked what his favorite activity was in TBD, Dinger smiled and immediately circled, “play bocce ball at The Foundry.” After playing a quick round of bocce, Dinger asked if he could tour our new Ro homes. So we headed to the Ro homes to give our TBD celebrity his own private tour. Turns out, Dinger is a big fan of modern architecture and the Ro homes are Dinger’s favorite design in TBD! #LiveatR0

We’d like to give a huge shout out to Dinger for taking the time out of his schedule to be interviewed by us! We can’t wait for Sutter Health Park to open up so we can support Dinger by watching some good ol’ baseball and cheering on our River Cats! #tbdlife
